NLIHC Expands Online ‘Renters in Foreclosure’ Resource

NLIHC continues to add to its ‘Renters in Foreclosure' webpage. The site, available at www.nlihc.org/template/page.cfm?id=159 , is a resource for advocates concerned about the impact of the foreclosure crisis on renters.

In an effort to increase awareness of this important issue, NLIHC summarizes scholarly research and media reports that demonstrate the extent to which the foreclosure crisis has displaced renters and even resulted in higher levels of homelessness in some communities. The webpage includes summaries of roughly 160 articles, television and radio segments, and research reports from NLIHC and others. Accompanying each brief summary is a link to the original document.

New this week is a document that organizes postings by state, for readers wishing to find relevant studies that pertain to a specific geography. NLIHC has also added letters sent to House and Senate leadership asking members to include federal protections for renters in an economic stimulus bill should one move forward (see article elsewhere in Memo).

Readers who aware of any articles or reports that would make this resource more complete are asked to contact Keith Wardrip (keith@nlihc.org; 202-662-1530 x245).
