THAI TOWN NAMED NATIONAL PRESERVE AMERICA COMMUNITY

Thai Town has been named a Preserve America Community, a national designation that makes the neighborhood eligible for federal grants. It will also help raise the profile of this Los Angeles neighborhood gem, giving more people an opportunity to learn about Thai American culture.

Preserve America is a federal initiative designed to support local efforts to preserve and celebrate our country's cultural heritage. The announcement of the designation was made by First Lady Laura Bush, who is the Honorary Chair of the Preserve America Initiative.

Earlier this year, LA City Council President Garcetti authored a resolution that officially put the City of Los Angeles on record in support of the designation of Thai Town as a Preserve America Community. The Thai Community Development Center submitted the application.
